School Lunches
From September 2014, all pupils from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for free school meals. All our school meals are cooked on the premises by our own wonderful kichen staff.
All our meals are cooked in our own kitchens at school.
Not only are they nutritionally satisfying but enjoyed by the children as well. Vegetarian options are always available as well as fresh fruit, vegetables, water and wholemeal bread.
We have a food hygiene rating of 5* - the highest that can be achieved!
School Meals Provider
Our school meals are provided by Dolce Schools Catering, a family-run company serving over 650 schools across the UK. Dolce specialises in freshly prepared, nutritious meals made from quality ingredients, with a wide variety of options to suit different tastes and dietary needs. Parents can pre-order meals online, and their cashless system helps make lunchtimes smooth and efficient. With a strong focus on sustainability, reducing food waste, and offering planet-friendly menus, Dolce helps us ensure that children not only enjoy their meals but also develop healthy habits for life.
Cost of School Meals
Lunches are £3.20 per day.
For learners in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, these meals are free but you would still need to order your child/ren's lunches via School Grid.
Please pay dinner money in advance using School Grid. If you have not yet got a School Grid account set up please contact the main school office.
As well as payment, School Grid allows parents/carers to select their children's meals up to a term in advance - ensuring that there are no surprises and your child gets their pick of the menu options.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
Some families may be entitled to additional support through the Free School Meals scheme.
Registering for Free School Meals not only provides an eligible child with a free school meal, but also enables the school to access Pupil Premium Funding, which helps us enhance educational opportunities, wellbeing support and wider experiences for children.
Parents and carers are encouraged to check their eligibility and apply where appropriate.
Online Meal Ordering
Our online meal ordering system allows families to view menus and select meals in advance, providing greater flexibility and choice for children.
The system also enables us to safely manage dietary requirements, allergies and food preferences, ensuring that all pupils can access suitable meal options.
Where families require support accessing the system, assistance is available through the school office.
Dietary Requirements and Allergies
We work closely with families to meet individual dietary requirements and medical needs.
This may include:
- Food allergies.
- Medical dietary requirements.
- Vegetarian options.
- Religious dietary requirements.
- Gluten-free or lactose-free diets.
Parents and carers should inform the school of any dietary needs so that appropriate arrangements can be made via School Grid and Medical Tracker.
Packed Lunches
Children are welcome to bring a healthy packed lunch from home.
We encourage packed lunches to contain a balanced selection of foods that support healthy growth, concentration and learning throughout the school day.

Nut-Free School
To safeguard pupils with severe allergies, Oldfield Brow Primary School is a nut-free school.
We ask all families not to send foods containing nuts or nut-based products into school, including items such as:
- Peanut butter.
- Nutella and similar spreads.
- Nut-based cereal bars.
- Packets of nuts.
We greatly appreciate the support of our families in helping us maintain a safe environment for all children.
