Welcome to 2RK

Summer 1 *PE this term is on Monday and Friday*

Monday 17th April

Welcome back 2RK! I Hope you have had a lovely well deserved Easter break, I am looking forward to a very exciting new term with you all.

This week in English we will be writing a recount about one of the days in the holidays, using exciting adjectives to describe their eventful day. They will then move on to writing a letter to Grandad, continuing last term's book pretending to be Syd!

In Maths a new topic will begin 'Movements and Positions' where they will be describing movement and turns. In PE we will be learning striking and fielding games, looking at different throwing and catching techniques.

This term we will be doing History in Topic, which will be based on the Titanic!

Friday 24th March

Next week:

In English, we will be identifying the features of a fact file (non-fiction text), we will begin by researching a country from the 7 continents we looked at in Geography. Children will be using the internet to research their countries. Once they have collated their information they will write their own fact files!

In Maths, we will continue our topic of Fractions: Understanding whole and parts, Counting in halves and Counting in quarters.

In Science we will be making bridges out of paper to see which structure will be the strongest for toy cars to pass by!

In PE will continue learning to perfect our golf skills, as well as an additional lesson of Dance!

Friday 17th March

We have had a short but eventful week!

I would like to congratulate Joseph for being voted by our class as 2RK’s MPP. We are so proud of all of the participants who worked really hard in creating their presentations and speeches. Well done!

This week was also Red Nose Day where children dressed up as anything that makes them smile! One of the activities were to create their own neurodiverse superhero linking in with Neurodiversity week, here are some pictures of what we got up to.

We also did some creative activites for mothers day!

Friday 10th March

Today we have enjoyed watching a number of participants presenting their campaigns to become Member of Pupil Parliament, we are so pleased with the hard work they put into preparing their presentations and posters. We are all looking forward to voting on Monday!

This week we created our own finger puppets in D&T, where we first designed our puppets and wrote out the materials/tools we will use to make them.

Here are some of our spectacular final outcomes!

Next week in English we will be writing our own return narrative, making links to our class book ‘Grandad’s Island’.

We will be starting our new topic ‘Fractions’ in Maths, where they will be recognising halves and quarters.

World Book Day in 2RK:

Monday 27th February

This week will be full of fun and excitement with book week ahead!

We will be focusing on our whole school book 'The Lost Happy Endings'. We will be utilising our knowledge of adjectives and adverbs to describe the interesting settings within the book.

In maths, we will continue working on 3D shapes. Identifying vertices, edges and faces of different 3D shapes.

In science, our key question is 'Can materials change shape?' A fun investigation will be carried out using elastic bands!

In D&T, we are looking at a variety of puppets, comparing different designs and the materials they are made with. We will then be designing and making our own over the next lessons!

Monday 20th February

Welcome 2RK!

It has been lovely to have you all back with lots of positivity to start the new term.

This week we will be starting a new book in English, we can’t tell you what it’s called just yet!
