Welcome to Oldfield Brow Nursery.
The
Nursery is usually the first contact with school for children and parents,
and we aim to provide a caring and stimulating environment to welcome children
into school. The nursery is staffed by a qualified teacher and nursery nurse;
we believe that high quality care and education will lead to effective learning
and development for young children.
The
Foundation stage curriculum is followed in the Nursery and Reception and the
two classes work closely together to make ‘the Foundation Stage’
. However, the individual child is central to our planning and assessments,
and it is important to us that children attain their appropriate stage of
development, and that their social, emotional physical and intellectual needs
are met.
The
children’s happiness is central to our philosophy and we work closely
with parents every day to involve them in the care and education of their
children. Parents stay in school every day in the nursery to help with activities
and to talk to staff about their children. We also arrange coffee mornings
and workshops to share ideas with parents about early literacy and numeracy
skills. There are also fun community events such as visits outside the nursery
and our annual sports day - we are part of the local community.
The Nursery is very much a part of main school life. As a small school we are able to achieve daily contact with children and staff in the main school. The children move into the Reception class with ease because of the close links and familiarity with the school community and surroundings.
